What you should NOT name your salad! ;)

Salad Making Day!

Hello boys and parents! My apologies for not updating the blog for so long! The extra workload from teaching Science to a Primary Three class has really kept me very busy! Here are some long overdue photographs from our Salad Making Day sometime back in July:

Golf:

I was wondering why I did not take a photograph of Golf's end product....and I got my answer after watching the video I took of you boys! Do you remember why I did not have a photograph of your salad? =D

Walking:

Cycling:

Want to know what they named their salad? Watch out for the video at the end of this post!

Tennis:

Swimming:

Swimming got extra points for the most beautifully set up table! Good job!

Basketball:

Hmm..loved those colourful and yummy fruit loops you added to your salad!

I give thanks I can choose my attitude...

Ms Fang shared this video with the teachers and I would like to share it with you too:

P/S ( The title of this blog entry is one of my favourite lines from the video. Remember what I
always say about all of you having a choice over your attitude and behaviour? You always
have a choice in whatever you do - you either CHOOSE to be a hardworking boy who
takes joy in all work given because you are thankful that you are lucky enough to be
studying in a school with modern facilities (many children from other parts of the world
are not as lucky: remind me to tell you more about them on Monday), or you CHOOSE to
be a lazy boy who does not really put in all your effort in work given.

You can also CHOOSE to say hurtful and mean things to your friends, or you can CHOOSE
to think carefully before you speak and to take time to say encouraging words to others.

You can CHOOSE to blame the 'naughtiest boy' in class for everything that goes wrong, or
you can CHOOSE to take time to find out what really happened before jumping to
conclusions and hurling accusations at others.

What is your CHOICE everyday?

Welcome back to school, boys!

Hello my dear boys, time flies and we are already into week 3 of Term 3! Before I post up pictures of your very first group work done this term, let's do a quick recap on what happened before we left for the June holidays!

Firstly, a big hearty congratulations to Skyler and Rinaldi for improving the most in Maths and English respectively! Skyler improved by 22 marks in Maths, jumping from a score of 70 in Term 1 to 92 in SA1! Rinaldi improved by 23 marks in English, jumping from a score of 66 in Term 1 to 89 in SA1! Well done , my most improved students of 2 SD for Semester 1 2009! =D

Recognition is due for eight other boys as well: Bada, Ang Chern, Brandon, Bryon, Hafiz, Ben, Kampton and Shakeel (who is not in the photograph below due to his absence in school the day I announced the names of those who improved when comparing SA1 results with results obtained in Term 1 based on topic reviews given) I am so proud that you managed to achieve your goals of improving by more than 5 marks for both English and Maths!

I hope that all of you will continue to work hard for the second half of the year and strive to be the most improved students of 2SD in Term 3! Remember to set SMART goals (they must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and have a Time frame) and then set all out to achieve them!

Congratulations to Elisha for winning the story telling competition as well! You have done our class so very proud!

Now I proudly present the five winning pieces of groupwork for our very first group activity in Term 3: Golf, Cycling, Walking, Soccer and Tennis! Good job, boys!

Here are the wonderful Venn Diagrams constructed on turtles and tortoises:

Before I end off this post, I will like to remind all of you to continue taking good care of yourself and your family in view of the current H1N1 situation. Remember to practice good personal hygiene habits (Wash your hands throroughly! No more coughing and sneezing without using a tissue paper to cover your mouth!) and be socially responsible! If you are sick, please do stay at home and get Mummy and Daddy to inform me!

I think a snish will make the best class pet!

I also like the idea of having a kangasnake....

A drago-dog-cat sounds good too!

However, a dragosaur could prove useful...

A dino-spider sounds interesting as well...

A dragodinospidomonko sounds mighty powerful!

What a cute looking dragobird!

Last but not least, I would really like to go for a ride on a dragoder too!
